Balloon Glow

We drove down to CO Springs on Saturday to watch the Balloon Glow. We packed the dogs in the car and left the house pretty early; decided to stop at the Castle Rock Outlets and check out their Labor Day sales. We bought Katelynn a bunch of long sleeve tops for the winter and a few pair of pjs. I found a cute little wand for $3 at The Children's Place. She really liked it...until we went into Toys 'R Us and she found a wand that lights up. So she also got 2 princess wands at the outlets. Carter's was having an awesome sale - 70% off their baby clothes. Shame we don't know the sex of the baby yet.
 We got back into the car and headed the rest of the way to the Springs. Decided to eat lunch at Cracker Barrel - always a good choice! Then since it was only 2pm and the night glow didn't start until 8pm we decided to go to the dog park at Palmer Park so the dogs could stretch their legs. We drove around the park and found a look-out. You could see Pike's Peak and Garden of the Gods.

We played at the playground for awhile so Katelynn could swing and stretch her legs. Then we met Chris's Dad, Annie, and Annie's Granddaughter Vanessa for dinner at a yummy pizza place a few blocks from the Balloon Glow area.
The Balloon Glow was pretty cool! We got there just as the sun was setting.

I secured our spot while Chris and Vanessa took Katelynn around to see the balloons upclose. They came back with another wand for Katelynn! (her Daddy couldn't let Mommy have all the fun).

You could see some of the balloons starting to fill up.

As it got darker the balloons got really cool!

There was a gentlemen on a loudspeaker who started counting down from 10 to 1 and then...

All the balloons would light up at the exact same time! It was really cool to see. Katelynn loved it! Well except for the HUGE Energizer Bunny. That one scared her. Every time they lit it up she'd cry...

The "When Pigs Fly" Balloon from the Loveland Balloon launch was also there.

In order to distract Katelynn, Chris told her that she had  magical wand and whenever they got to "1" he would wave it and the balloons lit up. She would clap every time (at least until she saw the bunny).

It was a great evening! We didn't do much else over the weekend. Attended a friend's daughter's 9th birthday party on Sunday. I caught a nasty little bug sometime over the weekend. Spent all day Sunday with a sore throat and Monday in bed. Still not feeling well today, but getting better. Hopefully I can sleep tonight. Nothing like not being able to sleep because I'm pregnant AND sick! LOL.
We have a 4 week check-up with the OB this afternoon. I'll post an update later.
