Baby Katelynn is now up to 8lbs, 6oz as of yesterday. Developmentally she is doing well: she can "almost" hold her head up on her own (she does well for a few seconds and then tries to head bunt you); she can grasp your finger and hold on really tight, and sometimes she'll even reach for your hand; she is smiling now :) :) :) - I love this one!; she will meet your eyes (she can't hold eye contact long, but it's much better then last week); and I swear it sounds like she is repeating me (I say "hi" to her all the time and now she has a little sound that sounds like "hi" - very cute!!). On the down side she still screams like we're trying to kill her at bath time but thankfully she doesn't cry so much with the diaper changes any more - I think we're raising a beach bunny! Physically she's gaining weight, her eyes are still blue, but her hair has gotten much redder. I'm not sure of her length, but she can no longer wear size NB she is definitely in the size 0-3 now. Our next doctor's appointment is on February 3rd and we'll find out her length and she'll get all of those wonderful first shots - should be a fun appointment!
That's all I have the time for today. Hope everyone is well!
Here Katelynn is chilling in the boppy:

Here she is for her first trip around the house in the snugli - the only problem was her face is in the boobs so she made my shirt really wet - might have to wait a few more weeks before trying this one again!

Here she is in the outfit Aunt Barby picked out for her at Christmas:

And here is ToddDog being jealous and wanting to share my lap while we watched American Idol:

Uncle Stew's Trip

Uncle Stew and "Aunt" Michaela came all the way out from Washington DC to visit with Baby Katelynn. It was wonderful having the extra hands around! They flew in late Thursday night and left Monday afternoon. It was a short but busy visit. We went up lookout mountain - it was a bit windy as you can tell from the photos, but fun just the same. We hung around the house and "relaxed" watching football on Sunday, and even got Stew and Michaela addicted to a board game called Sequence!

The house seems quiet and empty without all the visitors. The only people left to make the trip out are Mom and Dad - but it'll take a lot to get Mom on a plane! We're planning on coming out to VA this summer again and at Christmas. Hopefully this time we'll find someone to watch the dogs so we can fly out and enjoy a longer trip with the family. It should be interesting to fly with a 6 month old!
I'll end the post on a happy note - baby Katelynn got weighed today and is now at 7lbs 15oz - she put on 10oz in one week! She's a growing girl with a healthy appetite!

Happy New Year!

Well the New Year is finally here, and we couldn't be happier that 2008 is finally over - what a rough year. Katelynn was the wonderful gift for the year. Both Mom and baby are currently doing great. We are having breastfeeding issues, but working hard at getting through them. Katelynn is now above 6lbs, and growing every day! Mom is feeling better thanks to the nice weather and being able to get outside and walk.

December was a busy month! There were many firsts and wonderful visits from family and friends. Aunt Barby made it out for a week and it was absolutely wonderful having her around. She gave me some much needed rest time. Barb got to experience many new things - changing diapers, giving baby a bath, picking out outfits (I'm sure some were more exciting then others). We even took Katelynn on her first walk - it was a little cold out, but it was fun just the same.
Christmas was a busy day in our house - Chris's entire family came up and we had a big meal (ham, turkey, and all the trimmings including apple pie). Katelynn received some very nice gifts - a personalized piggy bank and some toys for when she's a little older. Nanna sent her the cutest Christmas stocking - it was bigger then Katelynn! We ended up celebrating the New Year in Colorado Springs with Chris's family. Both Holidays were fun and went by too quickly.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! We're looking forward to a year full of wonderful (and I'm sure not so wonderful) moments with Katelynn.
