My how time is flying right on by. Katelynn will be 2 years old in 2 months! She has accomplished so much and yet still has so far to go. We got her these fun little magnetic puzzles that she loves to play with (they are Melissa & Doug - love their puzzles!).
One Saturday earlier this month I was on the computer and Chris was on the floor playing with Katelynn's toys - Katelynn on the other hand was getting into trouble...
She is climbing on everything! I'm just waiting for the day that she'll figure out how to climb out of her crib. We will be moving in the next 2 months and since a new baby is coming she'll be getting a big girl bed very soon. Her crib is an actual convertible crib so it goes from crib to toddler bed, but with a new baby coming we haven't figured out which direction we'll go. Although the drop front cribs are now being recalled and they will no longer be making them, so it might be best to just buy a new crib for the next baby. Chris's twin gave us a white daybed that goes perfectly with Katelynn's furniture and it will make a perfect bed for her (although it's a bit large right now and probably more for when she gets older). Sounds like turning her crib into a toddler bed will be the way we'll go!
Let's see, what else has Katelynn been up to! She has mastered eating with utensils. She uses a cup when at home (for the most part) but a sippy every where else (she's still a bit messy with the cup), and she has this *wonderful* little habit of drinking and then spitting it back out.
The people at the child development center said Katelynn should be up to 50 words (at least) by her 2nd birthday, so I've started keeping a list of the words she says...we are up to 30 words right now. Her most favorite word is "no." It just started yesterday too. She more or less sings the word no. She says it about 10 times in a row at different notes. I really need to get her on video doing it because it's super cute. She knows what the word "no" means, but I'm not sure she understands when to say it yet...she just says it, over and over again. When she woke up this morning she was laying in her crib saying the word "no" over and over again. Funny!
Katelynn is also becoming a very emotional little girl. We took her outside to pick her pumpkin from the garden (Chris is very sad he only got 2 pumpkins this year). As soon as Chris picked it up and snipped it she ran away crying.
This is not the first time she's had this reaction to things either. Todd Dog is not doing very well health wise so we had to take him to the vet last week (an update will be coming on him tomorrow since we're going for his check-up) and as soon as the vet and his techs touched Todd - Katelynn let loose with a bunch of screams and cries. The vet was wonderful though and started talking to Katelynn, explaining what he was doing. She watched him very carefully the entire time.
She's growing by leaps and bounds! She is running, going up and down the stairs to get to the slide at the playground, and she is even swinging on the big kids swing! She is starting to get good at putting on socks, and even her shoes. She still hasn't figured out how to pull her pants down which is going to make potty training interesting (which is going to be happening real soon). Any time I go into the bathroom she comes running yelling "potty" and "flush." I don't think we are going to full with a kid potty though (neither one of us wants to deal with being the one to clean it out) so we're talking about a step stool and one of those kid toilet seats. This should be a fun experience! We've decided to wait until we get settled so that the move doesn't disrupt it any. Might even wait until after the baby comes - all depends on how she takes to it. Right now she's very enthused about the "potty" but I don't think she's realized that that is where she needs to go too! LOL.
Update on Baby #2 will be later this week. We have the 20 week ultra sound scheduled for Wednesday - boy or girl?!
