Sunday morning Katelynn woke up on the wrong side of the crib. I'm sure it had everything to do with being up early and no nap the day before. Every time we got her calmed down she'd started screaming. It was a long morning, so we decided to just put her in the car and go for a drive. We stopped at Starbuck's and I got an iced chai tea, and it was bliss! Katelynn behaved wonderfully on the drive. We didn't know where we were going, we just wanted to get out of the house.
We ended up driving to Golden, CO. It's in the foothills, and we had been there once before, but my camera had died. We spent the day walking around a historical "town," strolling the streets, window shopping, and then walking along the creek. It was a wonderful day, and a perfect end to a wonderful weekend! Hope you enjoy the pics!
We drove through the town, looped back around, and then parked. When we got out there was a little garden in front of us, so we thought we check it out. Turned out it was a little historical site.
The first thing was a schoolhouse...
Katelynn got super excited when she saw the chickens! I told her, "Aren't these like Nana and Pap-paps chickens? What did their chickens say?" And Katelynn said, "Bauk-bauk." It was so cute!! :)
Even Vinson liked them...
Katelynn really liked the wagon too...it was more like a see-saw! (you can see my ever-growing belly in these pics)...
The next pics are of the garden. I took these cuz I'm going to try these type of trellis and fence at our next place.
Katelynn was super tired...
And refused to smile for my photos. I was lucky to get her to even look at the camera...
She was okay for taking a quick photo with Mommy...
But had a mini-meltdown when we tried one with Daddy...
Downtown Golden.
This guy was riding around town. He was followed by about a dozen bikes. They did 6 laps while we were walking around.
We stretched our legs in the park...
Even Vinson liked the grass! :)
There goes the bike man again...
There was a huge slide at the end of the park. Chris and Katelynn went down it together.
The slide dropped us on a path that circled the creek.
You could see someone gliding down the foothills (paragliding??)...
There were people tubing down the creek. It was in the 90's again today and sounded wonderful. Too bad we didn't have any suits.
We stopped on a bridge and snapped some quick photos...
We took a pic of Katelynn "playing" with the bears.
Then it was time to get back in the car and head home. She took a nice 3 hour nap when we got home. We fired up the grill and had some of that yummy corn we got at the festival and chicken/apple sausages. It was a great weekend! Next weekend is a big one - Labor Day. We are headed down the CO Springs on Saturday night for a hot air balloon night-glo. I'm super excited! It should be lots of fun. No other big plans for the weekend other then maybe an apple orchard so I can try my hand at making applesauce and candy apple rings. Yummy!
