Marathon Time!

Okay, so I didn't actually RUN a marathon! But I did do a 5-man relay in the Colfax Marathon!Alright, well this blog isn't about Katelynn, I'm taking a second to tell you how proud I am of myself! On Sunday, Bethany, Me, Chris, Adam, and Pacita ran a 5-man relay during the 2010 Colfax Marathon.
My leg was 4.8 miles and I ran the ENTIRE way! I didn't stop not once!! Okay, that's not true, I did stop one time about half way through because I needed water and after dumping half of it down the front of my shirt, I paused to drink some water then continued running the rest of the way!!! I got past the 4 mile marker (mile 21) and I told myself you got less then a Navy PT test to go, so I just pushed right on through, then I rounded the corner and headed up this enormous hill!! My legs were so tired, but they got me up the hill and around the bend to my relay finish point (seriously though - who puts a hill at the end of a leg??!! OMG!!!).
Chris had the next leg, but when I crossed my relay line he was no where to be found!! He apparently had run to the bathroom, so there was a small delay in his start! He, he.
You got a "goody" bag and a medal for finishing. I was so darn proud of that medal that I didn't take it off!! Notice I'm the only one wearing mine!! :) :) :)
Here is Chris running his 5.3 mile leg of the race.
And crossing the finish line...
I'm so proud of all of us! We all managed to finish our legs of the race in under 45 minutes (Bethany who did 7.7 miles finished hers in 50 minutes).
Here's a shot of Me, Pacita, Chris, and Adam... (again notice who the only one wearing her medal is! I'm such a dork!!)...
Katelynn was there too...
She was all smiles and very proud of her Mom-ma and Da-da...
It was just an awesome morning! Then we went home...
On Saturday Vinson dug his way in to the neighbors yard AGAIN. They have a new dog over there and it's been driving all 3 of our dogs crazy. So we left Vinson in the house...which we've never had a problem with before. I'm thinking we should've left Kira and Todd inside too, because this is what Vinson did to the carpet (mind you this is a rental home!). He's costing us a small fortune right now...

Hope you all had wonderful weekends!!

Katelynn's Faces

Katelynn has been making some of the cutest and funniest faces lately, so I thought I'd do a quick blog on them!
Her pout is by far my favorite! She can keep up with the best of them! Look how far out she can get that lower lip...
And then there is the..."stop making fun of me" look she is perfecting...
And then the, "I'm not going to look at you"...
And she's getting really good at "mocking" our gestures...
"What are you looking at?"
She makes them everywhere - even in the bathtub! Of course the hairdo Chris gave her might have had something to do with it! "Can't you see I'm busy here?!"
I can drink the bath water if I want to!
And...really??
And then a smile for the camera...
Hope you enjoyed the photos!

Mothers Day Weekend 2010

Happy Mother's Day! I am happy to report that this year was a wonderfully, amazing, uneventful weekend! No trips to the ER for us this year!!
We spent Saturday morning hiking Golden Gate Canyon State Park. It was beautiful up there! The sun was shining when we started our walk. Here we are in the parking area excited to start our first hike of the season!

The first part of the trail was just a path through some fields and along some tree lines, but it was a steady uphill climb. It was called the "Elk" trail and it was a moderate 1.7 mile trip up.
Can you see the beautiful mountains in the background?! You could see snow on the ground still in a lot of the shady parts.
The dogs took full advantage of most of the patches we came across!
A little breather...the air gets pretty thin the further up you go. :)
After our mini-break we started off on the "Elk/Racoon" trail, a moderate 2.5 mile climb to Panorama Point. this was the starting point.
It was here that we noticed...
Look closely at Katelynn!
All that fresh mountain air wore her out! Good thing I put sunscreen on her! After a few quick shots of her sleeping we headed into the woods. I don't think I got a really good picture of it but it was pure mud!
She slept through most of this!
Vinson was very impatient with my constant stopping! (note: he's sitting on the trail! It got very interesting at points).
When we looked to our lefts we got a sneak peak of what to expect at the top.
It made us want to get up this narrow path even quicker!
With one of the markers...
And then we hit a clearing! WOW!
And we were at the top! The views were so worth the hike up!

A quick shot of the three of us (please disregard my husband and his gum saving method - look closely at the brim of his hat)...
A photo showing all the peaks you can see from Panorama Point.
A quick shot of the path down below that we had climbed up.
A few more quick photos before heading back down - the sun was disappearing and you could see the clouds rolling in - time to get back down the mountain.
A family shot without the gum...but this time Katelynn blocked her face with her cup!
Some wildflowers peeking through...
Almost there...
I can see the car!!!
It was an awesome 3-hour morning hike! A great way to start off the hiking season and Mother's Day weekend!
For dinner Saturday night we met up with Mike, Pacita, and their 3 kids at TGIFriday's. The food was not so great, but the company was awesome! Here's Katelynn in the car ride up. Can you see those 2 front teeth?!
Here's a shot of Katelynn on Mother's Day morning while Chris was making me waffles for breakfast!
We had bar-b-que'd chicken on the grill for dinner and while it was cooking Katelynn was sitting on the "deck" playing with some of the yard statuary.
She would pick it up off of the chair.

And put it on the ground.
And she would do this over, and over, and over again with all the little pieces! She got very mad at me for giggling and taking photos. Check out this facial expression!
It was an AWESOME Mother's Day this year! Chris got me a nice card, this beautiful, hanging Fuschia plant.
AND A NEW BIKE!!!! (no reason to not start practicing for the tri-athlon in August!).
I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day! Take care!
