Weekend Fun

Last weekend we went to the Denver Zoo and drove up to Boulder to get some tea from Celestial Seasoning and see the Leanin' Tree sculpture garden (in addition to the Avs Training Camp).
First thing Saturday morning we went to the Avs Training Camp then we headed off to the zoo for a few hours. It was awesome because we got to see a lot of the animals that are normally hiding when we go. PLUS there were lots of baby animals!
The first thing you see when you enter the zoo are the Lions and occasionally a hyena. This time we saw 5 hyenas!
The next stop was the tiger. He's usually all stretched out in a corner outside. This time he (or rather she) was not only stretched out but had 3 babies!!!
Katelynn got really excited when the babies started moving around.
Then we spotted this little guy chilling away from the others...
Next was Katelynn's favorite - the giraffes! They always get her excited and pointing.
We rounded the corner and Katelynn spotted the Polar Bear before we did!
We got a rare treat because not only was this guy out but further down another Polar Bear was out swimming!
And then he got out and walked right past us!
TWICE!
After the Polar Bears we headed over to watch the seals swimming, and guess what we found! Another baby!!
It was pretty cool. One of our last stops was the bird atrium and penguins.
We would've stayed longer if it wasn't already past Katelynn's nap time. Hopefully we'll be able to go to the zoo one more time before leaving - we're hoping to make it to Boo at the Zoo again this year.
Sunday morning we got up and were going to head up to Estes Park to do a scenic drive to see the Aspen trees changing, but the road was closed due to a fire. Instead, we headed to Boulder, CO to get some Celestial Seasoning Tea (and some early Christmas gifts) and to visit the Leanin' Tree Sculpture Garden.
You might remember the dress made of tea bags from a blog I did when I was pregnant with Katelynn. Chris took a photo of me standing next to it...
So, we took another photo next to the same dress of me holding Katelynn while pregnant with baby #2. :)
The Leanin' Tree Sculpture Garden was just awesome! It was a perfect morning to go there too.
A fun Totem Pole shot!
This next one was Katelynn's favorite! I had to do a double take because it looked so real. Of course the first thing she did was run up to it and stick her finger in its mouth!
Here's a shot of me with a large bunny. Notice Katelynn is behind me still playing with the snake!
Some more statues...
Some of the statues you could actually sit on, so we took some of Katelynn on the donkey and in a saddle.
And this little guy was my favorite!
Hope you enjoyed our past weekend adventures. This upcoming weekend we are headed to a corn maze in Hudson, CO which boasts to have the largest corn maze in the U.S. - guess we shall see!!
