National Night Out

The base took part in National Night Out again this year. It's an event that takes place all over the country to bring the community and law enforcement together. It's actually pretty cool. We went last year as well. This year they had a lot more vehicles for Katelynn to climb on and check out. She climbed on the BWI Fire Truck. She didn't stay in it for long because it was "too high."

 Denver wasn't too impressed. Hopefully next year he'll listen better and will be able to get out of the stroller.

 They also had a Coast Guard boat there that she could climb on. This one was her favorite.

 

 And of course the police car! She didn't want to sit in the front this year, just played around in the back.

 We got there early enough that the lines were not very long, so she got to get in a bouncy house too. For some reason she was upset because I wouldn't get in line for the giant slide. This one had a mini slide and she cried the whole way down it saying she was scared. She is too funny, and no worries next year Denver will go up the giant slide with her so she won't be scared (I swear he has no fear).

 

 It took some encouraging to get her to climb the ladder.

 

Going down the slide...very, very slowly (seriously, two other kids jumped on it and bounced down beside her while she cried).

 

We were there for about an hour and a half. She got a free doll from one of the vendors and they had some popcorn and a little bit of cotton candy, and then she said she wanted to go home. I looked at her and this is what her face looked like. I'm not sure why she suddenly wanted to go home or what upset her, but it all but breaks your heart. I thought it was funny that Denver had the same expression though.

On the way out I told her she could run through the sprinklers. Well, that just made her night. She was so happy the rest of the evening!

It really was a great evening. She keeps asking to go back to the fire truck place.
