Harpers Ferry

We took the kiddos to Harpers Ferry. It was hot and humid, but a pretty interesting place. The kids did great for the first half, and we were all pretty miserable for the last portion. We will definitely have to go back when it gets cooler. Since Chris is military we got a free pass for an entire year to go back whenever we want! Can't beat that!!
All smiles when we first got there...

Waiting on us to decide which way we wanted to go...

We took a short trail through the woods over to Murphy Farm.

It was a nice walk there, but Murphy Farm trail itself was hot. It was all open with very little trees.

We found a little loop that went through some trees

and a bench where we sat down and drank some water and had a snack.

then it was back out into the sun...
 ah, the trail back.
Once back to the parking lot we hopped on the bus and went into the actual town of Harpers Ferry.
Denver was happy to be out of the carrier!

Crossing the bridge to see the trains
Clinging to Mommy - not a fan of the trains unless I was holding him; then they were okay.
Katelynn, "how much further do we have to go?!"
We even ate lunch/dinner in a train!

Yes, it was hot! This shirt was fitted when we left the house. I couldn't even keep it up anymore. Most of that is caused by the diaper bag I wear.

 Train depot.

Climbing the stairs up the the cathedral.

 some more stairs...

 um...more stairs.

The kids were so tired. We were so tired. It was a great day, just a little hot. Looking forward to doing it again when it cools down some more.
