Cunningham Falls State Park

When we took the kids to Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo we passed a sign for Cunningham Falls and we've been meaning to go there ever since. Well, we finally made it, and it was so worth the drive up there.
It was super hot out, but once we hit the forest area the temps dropped almost 10 degrees. We decided to hike the Cliff Trail rather then take the path everyone else was heading down. I'm so glad we did!
You can see the stone path behind Chris that everyone was taking...
This is the one we chose...

Katelynn did great with all the "steps."
Happy to be out and hiking!
I love how Denver is bracing himself in this photo...
How old is this tree? He got to around 70 then stopped...
 Some boulders

Katelynn said, "Mommy take my photo on this rock."

This boulder looks like a giant mouth...

 and we made it!
 very pretty!

we climbed down to the run off area so Katelynn could play some...

Thought we'd try a family photo...
 missing someone...
 almost...
 Aw well. We tried!

Heading back to the car. We collected acorns for the squirrels.

Then we changed into our swimsuits and played at the lake. The kids had a great time!!

There was a nice shady section that we set up "home" at and ate our pb and j sandwiches.

It was a really great day!
