On Saturday we took the kiddos to the National Zoo. It opened at 10 and we pulled into the parking lot around 1015 and we stayed until it closed at 430pm. It was a great day with lots to see and do!
They had zebras
Emu
Maned wolves (they looked like large foxes)
there was one hiding in the den...
Leopards...with a nice view of the zebras right next to them - LOL
My absolute favorite!!! The Panda bear - I've never seen a real one before. They were so cute and fun to watch. Katelynn actually told me it was time to go. LOL
He walked from one side to the other...
and then...
he went into this water basin...
and pulled out an apple and ate it!!!
"what are you looking at?!"
then he went into another corner and ate a carrot!
When we left there we walked over and saw the elephants (they had 3)
walking above the elephants to get to the bird atrium
the flamingos...they looked so cold. A bunch of them were shivering.
A cool parrot in the bird atrium
closer shot of the flamingos
Katelynn with a panda statue
this thing in the tree - what is it you ask?! Why a Red Panda!!!
he was pretty cool too!
these guys were NOT happy with each other - fishing cats (yes, that was their name)
Spring is coming! Cherry blossoms are opening!
Meerkat's! This little guy just sat there and stared at the ceiling...
and I timed this one perfectly!
the kiddos!
The Orangutan
it was so cool that they can do this!!
a wider shot of what it looked like
the orangutan was climbing while we were eating lunch (we brought pb&j with us)
Denver stretching his legs
Katelynn loved, loved, loved the waterfall!
the lions were pretty cool too!
I got a framer!!!
my loves!
Katelynn's favorite part!
She was so upset when it was time to go. We literally closed the place down and she was so sad we had to keep telling her that the animals needed time to get ready for bed. We went out for pizza and then home. Sunday we got up early and had one more adventure...
