Katelynn turned 15 months on February 28th. It was a month of many new things for her! Since she's so small the Pediatrician wanted to see her at 15 months. The good news is that she is consistently in the same percentiles (80th for her head - LOL, 20th for her length, and 0 for her weight). He was worried that she doesn't say too many words. She says Da-da, Ma-ma, ball, and dog, but she says Da-da more than any of them. She also is not walking yet. She is becoming very fast at crawling and she is great at surfing and pushing her walker around (she even knows how to turn it while walking and turn it around when she gets to a wall), but no steps without holding on to anything. In some ways it seems like she is going backwards - she used to stand up without holding on to anything and when you let go of her she'd stand, but now she just drops to the ground and crawls away. So, the Pediatrician has referred us to the Denver Early Intervention Services which does free exams of your child to see where they are developmentally (which reminds me I need to schedule this).
Other exciting news for the month is that she got her first tooth!!! Bad news about that is we don't know when she is teething. We thought in early February she was teething - mild fever, runny nose, drooling, but turns out she had a dual ear infection - two weeks later infections were gone and she had a tooth! Now we are starting off March and she has a runny nose and she's drooling?? Possibly her next tooth? Another ear infection? Do we ever really know with kids this young? LOL. I have not been able to get a photo of the new tooth - she either sticks her hands in her mouth.
or she clamps her mouth shut...
Other exciting news for the month - we turned her around in her car seat! She is not at the right weight, but her legs were getting too long for the other one. Turns out that Babies-R-Us has a special once a year (just happened to be in February) where they'll take your old baby items (car seats, strollers, cribs, etc) and give you a 25% discount off the purchase of a new one, so we took our old car seat in and exchanged it for her new one. Took us about 45 minutes to set the darn thing up in the car though! LOL. As soon as we put Katelynn in it she started wiggling and laughing. She loves being turned around!
I think her only complaint is that she has problems getting her sippy cup out of the holder! Good thing I can reach around and pull it out for her! :)
Katelynn's Aunt Heather gave us a Winnie the Pooh tent that we've turned into a ball pit for Katelynn. She loves crawling in there and playing with all the balls and her cow that her Aunt Barby gave her. Even Chris crawled in there and got in on the action!
Another thing she discovered this month is how to climb into her toy box that her "Grandma" Joyce made for her. Sometimes she'll pull all the toys out and sit in it and other times she'll just climb on top of the toys and sit there!
Katelynn's Pap-pap and Nana gave her a little drum full of musical instruments for Christmas. It has become one of her favorite toys to play with - especially the flute! She loves blowing in it. It has not becoming annoying yet, but I imagine at some point down the road it might - right now I'm just so proud of her for figuring it out!
The other thing she's seemed to discover over the month is blankies. She loves them! Anything soft she will flop on and start wiggling and cuddling! We put a cow in her crib and she now sleeps with it. I walked into her room this morning and she was propped up against it just sipping away on her milk - it was too cute! :)
Hope you enjoyed the photos!
