This blog is a little late coming. Katelynn turned 18 months on May 28th, but we just had her 18 month appointment today. If you've read the previous blogs then you know Katelynn's biggest accomplishment this month was she learned to walk! We were super excited (and still are) for her.
Another thing she is getting better with is brushing her teeth. She even asks for her toothbrush every night. She hasn't quite figured out the technique yet, but she's getting there.
At the doctors today they said she is no longer in the 0% for her weight, she is now 4%! My little girl is growing up, and it's so exciting. Not surprisingly she is 65% for her height and 85% for her head size (he, he - that explains why some of her 18 month shirts won't fit over her head!!).
She has decided that she no longer wants "The Foot Book" read to her every night, her new favorite is another Dr. Seuss book, "Hop on Pop." She is even more engaged in this book then "The Foot Book" - she turns the pages (after waiting for me to finish reading), she even cries out every time I read "Back, Black, Brown came back. Brown came back with Mr. Black." I don't know what it is about that line but it always gets a reaction out of her.
She is a lot more interactive at the zoo too. We went last weekend (again, we have a season pass so when we are between paydays we usually end up at the zoo!). Can you see her smile in the below photo? Chris was chasing a bird for her - she loved it!
We were at the Lion/Hyena den in the following photo, but she was more interested in the bird hopping around.
She was pointing at everything!!
She wanted to be in the stroller at first, but eventually ventured out of it...
We got a great photo of her next to a "penguin"
And a typical favorite for her - the monkeys!
She didn't want to go back in the stroller so Da-da's shoulders worked just fine...
We even got a photo of Katelynn and I!
Hope you enjoyed the pictures!
Here is a little family update - Chris made 1st class this cycle! He was one of 18 (out of almost 300 that took the test) that advanced. PLUS, he got selected for the orders he was sent to MD to interview for, so in January/February time frame we will be moving to the Ft. Meade, MD area (barely 30 minutes from my sister, an hour and a half from my brother and best friend, and about 4-5 hours from Mom and Dad!!!). We are super excited to be heading back to the east coast. Chris's orders will require him to be out to sea a lot so it'll be nice to be near family while he's gone.
Katelynn and I (Chris has a 2 week class during this time) are also headed to VA for my family's annual 4th of July party/Engagement party this year! I'm a bit nervous since it will be just me and Katelynn on the airplane (she'll be riding on my lap). I have nightmares of her running up and down the aisles screaming for most of the flight - here's to hoping I can find an entertaining toy or two between now and then. I will be home for 11 days and my Mom and sister have the entire time off! I can't wait to see everyone!! The trip home will probably be my next blog, so until then take care and Happy 4th!!!!
